With Thanksgiving approaching, I am looking forward to fun times with my friends and family. And, I am thankful for the natural resources that surround us in Alexandria. Thank you to everyone that plays a part in doing their part to keep them beautiful.
Those of you like me that enjoy the Central Lakes Trail probably have noticed a bench overlooking North Union Lake. And if you are like me, you admired it but never stopped. Yesterday afternoon, I stopped. There is a path leading up to the bench and I can’t believe I never noticed the small display that shows that it is part of Brophy Park. There also is a sliver of land just a little west of here at the northwest corner of Lake Brophy that is part of Brophy Park and it has two benches and a fire pit. Nice job Douglas County Parks Division!
Need a little break this afternoon? The video below isn’t too exciting but is very peaceful as I had a camera recording as I paddled on my Stand Up Paddleboard from Alexandria’s Lake Brophy to North Union Lake. Once I am in North Union you will hear the call of a loon that kept surprisingly close to me.
Below is a video I recently shot while on North Union Lake in Alexandria while a loon politely told me either to stay away or was alerting its fellow loons. Alexandria’s Chain of Lakes begins with Lake Brophy which connects to North Union which is a small, scenic lake. I think there are only two homes at North Union and it looks like it should be on canvas. Serenity is the word that always comes to mind when I picture North Union. The Central Lakes Trail passes between Brophy and Union and I look forward to it each time I go out for a ride or an inline skate from Alexandria towards Garfield.
