It is a beautiful day in the Alexandria Lakes Area and I was able to hop onto my bike for a ride this morning. First, I passed by Knute Nelson Field where the Alexandria Craft Brew Event is being set up for today. The hours are 1-5 pm if you have a VIP ticket ($50) or 2 -5 for a General Admission Ticket ($30).
Next, I passed by the ever growing Alexandria Farmer’s Market and Saturday Art Market were in full swing and very busy.
I then headed west on the Central Lakes Trail and arrived at Brophy Park just as the Alexandria Triathlon was wrapping up. The crowd was large and everyone was in good spirits.
There is much more to do today, have a great day. Sitting lakeside with a book or heading out for a boat ride or paddle are at the top of my ToDo list. If you don’t have a lake place yet, a great thing about Alexandria is no matter where you are, you are likely within a 5 minute drive to a beach or Public Access. Stop by Le Homme Dieu Beach. This summer the snack shack is open. Grab a treat and just sit and enjoy the zen of being at the lake and the kids having fun playing in the lake. Rotary Beach is another popular beach and you can enjoy it without getting set up in the sand. A favorite Public Access of mine is at the south end of Lake Burgen. There is a lot, I seem to recall it being around 700 feet) of shoreline. It is all sandy too. Bring your paddleboard and head out for a paddle around the shoreline. At a decent pace you can do the whole lake in around an hour.
