Lake Brophy is the westernmost lake in Alexandria’s Chain of Lakes (The order…Brophy > North Union > Stony > Taylor > Cowdry > Darling > Carlos > Le Homme Dieu > Geneva > Victoria > Jessie). Brophy’s size is 292 acres and the most recent DNR survey reports water clarity of 10.3 feet. Like the other lakes in Alexandria’s Chain of Lake, all properties with homes are connected to city sewer. The location is advantageous more many as Brophy homeowners have a short drive to downtown Alexandria. Pretty handy regardless of your familial status but especially nice for households with active kids. For those that enjoy biking, it is an easy ride along CR 82 (or via CR 82 and Latoka Drive) but Brophy holds an added perk of having along its north side the Central Lakes Trail. It is an easy and scenic ride on the trail that takes you to Big Ole Park and the northernmost point of Broadway.
Also on the northside of Lake Brophy is a Douglas County Park (there is also a park on the west/southwest side of Brophy). Yesterday I was at Brophy with my newest drone in tow and captured a few photos. In them you will see the Central Lakes Trail and the park as well as a distinguishing feature of Brophy. A privately owned island.
