It is that time of year at 211 Broadway that the showing schedule for the homes listed for sale at Counselor Realty has a lot of white spaces. It happens every year and it’s the same case at every other office in December. There are very few new real estate listings in the MLS and very few people physically viewing homes. Web-site traffic dries up quite a bit too as people are spending their time shopping or busy reading “best of 2014” articles. Probably a few creating funny Jib Jab videos too.
Like clockwork, this will all change after the first of the year. For lake homes, historically I have been busy in January and February with a slow down in March. Amazingly each year, I’ll get a few calls about lake properties on Christmas Eve. My analysis is people are with their family, feeling good and thinking of spending more time together and start dreaming of the upcoming summer.
Lake home listings that haven’t sold will start dropping off the market this month and hibernate until the spring. For property owners that have a lake home on the market, I think it is wise to consider keeping it on the market over the winter months. Buyers are looking and there will be less competition for your property and it’ll grab more attention.
Here is a breakdown of the homes for sale, by lake name, as of today.
