If you ever get the chance to buy real estate at, or near, the south end of Alexandria’s Lake Ida, move quickly. It isn’t common for properties to be for sale and if you view the photos below that I captured this morning you will understand why.
At the south end there is Burkeys Lane and Sahara Lane. The most uncommon of the locations in this area to find a property for sale. Like the south end of Lake Carlos (Three Havens Drive), it is sandy and you are able to walk from the shore into the water and continue for quite a good distance before the water is above most adult’s shoulders.
On the southwest side is Bedman Drive. Also very appealing and like Burkeys Ln and Sahara Ln have very little vehicle traffic as all three dead end. At the southeast corner of Ida is Sunset Strip. Great lakeshore and what is particularly nice for its residents, and also those on Burkeys, is the recent improvement of having the roads paved. It was the only reason in the past I didn’t like visiting Burkeys or Sunset Strip as I’d return to my office with a dirty car. No problem now.
The lakeshore is worth a longer drive but that isn’t necessary for this part of Ida. It is a short drive to downtown Alexandria and an especially short one to the restaurants in the Three Havens area, Arrowwood, Carlos Creek Winery (the Grape Stomp is September 14 – 16), Alexandria Golf Club, and more. Good living.
