When I am working with potential lake home or lake lot buyers that are considering properties with frontage at Lake Geneva or Lake Victoria, the topic of the channels to and from each of these lakes always is a point of discussion because they are longer and narrower channels than the channels between Le Homme Dieu and Carlos and also Carlos and Darling. I have never lived at Lake Victoria or Lake Geneva but have passed through each of these channels usually once or twice per summer for many, many years. There were summers that the water level was higher than normal and made it a challenge to get though as did summers with lower than normal water levels. But, I never was not able to get through and recall one summer in the early 90’s passing through in a 24 foot deck boat. I am hoping that someone that currently lives at either lake will pass on a comment about each of the channels and share their experiences as it will be helpful to others.

I live on Lake Victoria. Navigating through these channels takes some skill, but can be accomplished with almost all boats. Pontoons ride too high and become an issue due to height. But my 21 ft deck boat goes through no problem. The main limiting factor in the past was the 1st passage into Le Homme Dieu from Geneva, but that was changed out in 2012 or 2013 and it’s pretty easy now. Deep drafting boats may have a problem when entering into Lake Geneva from Victoria due to a shallow sand bar about 18 inches deep or so depending on water level and how many people have been through clearing a path. But its all sand so it doesn’t do much damage at slow speeds.
Water levels do make a difference but I’d say 90% of the summer they are just fine. Good luck!
Excellent! Thank you for taking the time to provide the helpful feedback.
