Lobster Lake real estate has been getting some love in 2012. So far, 10 lake homes with frontage on the 1,329 acre lake have sold with the prices ranging from a high of $600,000 to a low of $269,900. Like most of the lake sales this year in the Alexandria area, the highest percentage of them were in the $300,000 to $400,000 price point.
With colder weather moving in, the warm weekend we had a few weekends ago seems like a distant memory to me. I took advantage of it and traveled to the DNR Public Access near Reuben’s Landing to paddle around Lobster on my Stand Up Paddleboard. It was warm enough I was even able to go out on the lake shirtless.
Lobster Lake has a reputation as a good fishing lake and is one of two local lakes, the other being Lake Miltona, where anglers can catch Muskie. In the past, I have been asked quite a few times if it is also is a good lake for recreational boating. The answer is a strong “yes”. Besides being over 1,300 acres in size, 9 feet of water clarity and a maximum depth of 65 feet, there is a lot of shoreline because of the shape of the lake. Plenty of room to roam and because of the many bays, it is perfect for people that like to spend a day cruising the shoreline admiring the homes and surroundings.
