If you own a lake home, have you considered adding an outdoor shower? Or, if you are actively been looking for a lake home, it might be worth considering lake homes with fewer bathrooms desired and then adding an outdoor shower. My thoughts are directed more at seasonal lake home use but feel regardless of the size or style of a home, there are benefits and value an outdoor shower will add even if it is a primary residence.
Before I review some of the lifestyle and housekeeping benefits, the “cool” factor can’t be overlooked. An outdoor shower will add it. I have seen very few at lake properties at lake homes in Alexandria so if you are a seller, it’ll be a point of differentiation. Check out the picture I took of a shower in Manhattan Beach, California. Pretty cool.
Almost all lake homes will benefit by having an outdoor shower as it will free up the indoor bathroom(s) and outdoor showers are low maintenance. Owners of lake homes with one bathroom or lake homes that often have many overnight guests will find having an outdoor shower a big plus. Also, being able to shower outdoors after being in the lake or working outside is a convenience that will create smiles and will help keep the interior of your lake home clean. Fewer wet or sandy trails.
Like anything at home, the costs of an outdoor shower will vary. But, even you go over the top for a tricked out outdoor shower, it isn’t going to be anywhere close to the cost of adding an interior shower. An outdoor shower can be as simple as raising and attaching a hose and you don’t even need to connect to hot water as there are solar units. Some type of enclosure for privacy is a plus and also can be inexpensive. I think even the most basic outdoor shower will add value and enjoyment to your life at the lake.
Something I love about life at the lake is the simplicity. An outdoor shower couldn’t be more simple.
