With yesterday being Super Tuesday I decided to delve into Alexandria’s real estate market data to see how buyers have cast their ballots/buying dollars in 2012.
If you frequent this site, or were a regular at craigmische.com (which I transformed into Alexmn.com because a) I never liked the self-title site name and b) the new name is better for improving my postion in search results) you know I like talking about lakefront real estate. Today I am turning my attention to residential homes sales in Alexandria.
There have been a total of 271 homes without lakeshore that have sold since January 1, 2012. This number includes homes that haven’t closed yet but also excludes homes that went into escrow in 2011 but closed in 2012. The average sale price for closed transactions was $149,106. The average list price for the transactions that haven’t closed yet is $186,346.
3.14 and 2.12 are the respective averages for bedrooms and bathrooms. Those .12 bathrooms can be a little frustrating as they only have sinks.
The finished square footage for the sold homes is 1,947 square feet and the average property tax for all the homes is $1,576 dollars.
These statistics give a general overview but does give a really good snapshot of how to define ‘average’ for homes in Alexandria.
