The title of this post refers to the name of a statue at the northeast shoreline of Lake Minnewaska near the Lakeside in Glenwood that you will see in the video I have shared (Lakeside too). Early last week I was in Glenwood for a closing at Minnewaska Abstract and Title. Alexandria has excellent title companies but don’t overlook Minnewaska Abstract and Title. It is a wonderful title company and visiting Glenwood (only a 15 minute drive from Alexandria) is always fun.
In the video below you will see the northeastern shore of Lake Minnewaska where downtown Glenwood is located. You will see ‘She Who Waits’, Lakeside Steak and Chop House, new condos next to Lakeside, Glenwood’s public beach and the homes along South Lake Shore Drive.
I also visited the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources building in Glenwood. A farmhouse had been at this same location since 1905 and was the DNR’s Glenwood office. Now there is a LEED Gold certified two story building with over 9,000 square feet. It has a zero energy rating. The Department of Energy defines a Zero Net Energy building as one that produces as much energy through renewable sources as it uses over the course of a specified time period. The building has geothermal heating and cooling, LED smart lighting, natural lighting and solar energy. It is surrounded by native plants, rain gardens and pervious pavers that control runoff. Here are a few photos from my visit.
