Did the title of this post pique your interest? It is indeed Friday so enjoying a dram of whiskey may be on some of your minds. The whiskey I am referring to is the 160 acre lake that is near downtown Brandon, Minnesota. The “shots” are below as well as a short video that shows the northern half of the lake and takes the viewer towards Big Chip.
Information About Whiskey Lake
Whiskey isn’t a big lake but I can offer from my experience on smaller lakes that 160 acres is still going to provide a lot of enjoyment regardless of what you are looking to do except for cruising and looking at a lot of different homes and cabins. Whiskey has 2.39 miles of shoreline and it isn’t very developed. I looked at the GIS provided by Douglas County and counted twenty homes that have frontage on Whiskey. If sereness and privacy ranks high for you, Whiskey has it.
The lake’s average depth is 12 feet and its maximum depth is 46 feet. With an average depth of 12 feet the lake bottom is going to get churned easily and that affects clarity. The average clarity of 6 feet in the 2015 MN DNR Fisheries Lake Survey.
In the photos look for Brandon which is not far south from Whiskey. North of Whiskey you will see Big Chip.
