If you see me on a paddleboard it will usually be out on Darling, Carlos or Le Homme Dieu. But I keep one of my boards locked into my roof rack so I am ready to explore any lake with an access at any time. Recently I didn’t venture far from downtown and went out on Lake Agnes for a 30 minute paddle along its shorelines.
It had been a few years since I had been out on Agnes and I enjoyed it as you have views of the activity at downtown Alexandria, the Central Lakes Trail, Big Ole, and City Park. The size of Agnes is a little smaller than Little Darling. Paddling the entire shoreline of Little Darling take me about 28 minutes and I covered the shoreline of Agnes in 24. But there is plenty more shoreline to paddle as you can head into Henry. Both Agnes and Henry typically are going to be calmer than larger bodies of water so they are good options for Stand-Up Paddleboards, canoes, etc.
There are two docks at the south end of Agnes with plenty of parking. One is sponsored by the Alexandria Rotary Club and is near Big Ole. The more convenient dock for putting your paddleboard into the lake is across from the Depot Express. And, when you are done with your paddle you can walk across Agnes Boulevard to have a refreshment or bite to eat. Also, a block from Big Ole is Copper Trail Brewing Company.
I am a licensed real estate broker in Minnesota with Alexandria Brokers Realty and my market is the Greater Alexandria Area of Minnesota. Since 2002 lakefront real estate has been my focus and I’ve worked with numerous lakefront buyers and sellers. I’ve made it my job to know the shorelines of all of the lakes and the demand in any kind of market environment, hot or cold, and stay ahead of the curve in technology to benefit those that have entrusted me to help them sell or buy.
