LAKE LOTS FOR SALE IN OR NEAR ALEXANDRIA
In the Minnesota counties of DOUGLAS, POPE and TODD there are three classifications for lakes; General Development, Recreational Development and Natural Environment. The lakes with the most lenient restrictions for developing the land are the General Development lakes. What is of most interest to most buyers considering lake properties is how far a home or cottage needs to be setback from the shoreline (specifically, the Ordinary High Water Level). In Douglas County, the setback is 50 feet for General Development lakes with public sewer service prior to January 2001 or 75 feet if after or without public sewer. The structure setback is 75 feet at Recreational Development lakes with public sewer service prior to January 2001 and 100 feet after that date or without public sewer. For Natural Environment lakes the structure setback is 150 feet for all lots. In Pope County, the structure setback at General Development lakes is 75 feet, 100 feet at Recreational Development lakes and 200 feet at Natural Environment lakes. The setback is the same for lots with or without public sewer service in Pope County.
